PILOT-ABP FINAL EVENT
On 23rd May, the University of Alicante hosted the final event of the European project PILOT-ABP. This event was organised by INESCOP and UA, in cooperation with the rest of Consortium members.
Entitled “Sustainable technologies applied to animal by-products”, the event started with a keynote speech by Mr Dirk Dobbelaere, the Secretary-General of the European Fats Processors and Renderers Associations (EFPRA), which gave an overview of the current situation and future expectations of this industrial sector. Then the project partners presented the main project results achieved in the different pilot plants that had been developed for the treatment of meat by-products. Finally, Ms María José Tomás introduced the main financial tools and instruments of the Spanish Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) for the implementation of eco-innovative technologies.
These speeches sparked considerable interest among the more than 40 participants, among which there were representatives from the food, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and animal by-product transformation industries and academia, as well as fertilisers manufacturers, industrial waste managers and bio fuel producers.
Presentations shown during the event are already available.
